During winter, Brixen combines the elegant atmosphere of a small alpine town with immediate access to nature and the mountains. Days begin among historic streets, cafés and Christmas markets before continuing on the ski slopes of the Plose, the local mountain of Brixen.
The Plose ski area can easily be reached in around 20 minutes by car or with South Tyrol’s public transport connections. Visitors can enjoy panoramic ski slopes, sunny mountain huts and beautiful views of the Dolomites. Plose is ideal for experienced skiers, families and beginners alike.
After a day in the snow, the historic centre of Brixen offers a unique winter atmosphere with soft lights, traditional restaurants, mulled wine and elegant squares surrounding the Cathedral.
For wellness and relaxation, Acquarena features swimming pools, sauna areas and modern spa facilities, while sports enthusiasts can visit VERTikale, one of the region’s most impressive climbing and bouldering gyms.
Even during winter, Brixen often enjoys pleasant and sunny weather, with bright days and generally milder temperatures than higher alpine destinations.
Only a few minutes from the town centre lies the historic Neustift Abbey, one of South Tyrol’s most important cultural landmarks, famous for its library, vineyards and peaceful atmosphere.
Thanks to the excellent South Tyrol Mobility network, ski areas, villages and the surrounding region can also be comfortably explored without a car.
